Lottery - A Smarter Way to Play
@ 05/07/2007 – 15:08:41
OK Right,
It's a EuroMillions Lottery rollover tonight(6th July). So have you bought your tickets yet? Infact, do you play this and/or the UK Lottery on a regular basis? If so, I think I can show you how to play them a better and smarter way.
Probably like many others I used to buy them weekly using the same numbers, birth dates, favourite numbers etc. I was going to stop playing but wondered if there was a better way to play them because you always see adverts for schemes that gauranteed winnings, etc. So I thought I'd look into it.
I trawled the internet and most of it was complete and utter rubbish with titles like 'Hot Numbers that Winners Use', 'Sell You Grandmother If You Have To and Pick These Numbers'. You get my drift. Basically, there is no magic formula. A lot of people pick birth dates so only pick numbers between 1 and 31 but that doesn't mean by picking numbers 32-49 you stand any better chance. It was interesting to find out that a hell of a lot of people pick the numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6 for one line thinking that it if it comes out they will be quids in. This is far from truth. The numbers themselves have just the same chance as any other contribution of 6 numbers. Anyway, as so many pick this combination then you winnings wouldn't probably be enough to buy you and your mates a couple of drinks and a decent curry. So there you go, no magic formula, no combination of numbers that will be picked more than others. Every number has exactly the same chance of being picked and the only way of increasing your chances of winning is by buying more tickets. More tickets means more money. Where does £5 get you? Five UK Lottery tickets for either the draw on Wednesday or Saturday, or 3 tickets for the EuroMillions draw on Friday. But what if you could get more lines for your £5, won't that be better?
Searching the internet I came across a site that looked quite interesting. It involves being a member of a syndicate which initially put me off but I read on. For £5 a week you become part of a UK Lottery syndicate(49 people, no more no less) and each Wednesday and Saturday 44 lines are entered into the UK Lotto. That's right, 44 lines in both the Wednesday and Saturday lotteries for £5. I had been playing £10 a week for only 10 lines a week. OK, you are part of a syndicate and you share would be 1/49 of any winnings but it is still better than nothing and you get more lines entered increasing the chances of winning. You also get your own neat website to check on your winnings but it is all automated from collecting your £5, entering and checking the lines and sending you any winnings. Personally, my synicate hasn't had a really big win yet but has had quite a few regular small ones. If you want to have a look and read further go to or cut/paste to the link below
Also at this site you can join a syndicate for EUROMILLIONS lottery draw. Here the syndicate has 39 members and for £5 a week 36 lines are entered each Friday.
So, whereas my original £10 bought me only 10 lottery tickets a week (exculding the EUROMILLIONS draws) my £10 now makes me a member of a UK LOTTERY syndicate (£5 a week with 44 lines entered on Wednesday and Saturday) and a member of a EUROMILLIONS syndicate (£5 a week with 36 lines entered every Friday). Again go to the link below for more details
Additionally, it is possible to join as an affiliate member(about £5 a year) and if you get others to join then you get a commission of 20% (ie £1). So if got 5 others to join then effectively you would be playing for free each week.
Anyway, that's how I am playing the UK Lottery and EuroMillions these days. As I have said before if you are interested in playing or just want to read about it go to the link mentioned previously.
Good Luck & Best Wishes for the Future.
